I am Advisor and international speaker based in The Netherlands. I specialize in pathology, and molecular protocols.

Education
I completed the education in Pathology and Cytology in 1985 at the Dr. Struycken Insitute in Etten-Leur and University of Applied Sciences Leiden in The Netherlands.

Work
Worked more 25 years in different pathology laboratories as Head of the department of Cytology and as Head IT & Quality Assurance department.

Advisor and (inter)national expert
Since 2011 I'm advisor and (inter)national expert on Synoptic Reporting at PALGA Foundation. I'm a member of the FMS guideline committee of the Dutch for population screening on cervical cancer.

Co-author
Co-author of the national guideline of practice "for quality examination of the uterus cytopathologisch version 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1" and the national multidisciplinary guideline "Cervical Cytology" (2016).

Supporting and advising internationale projects
Supporting and advising internationale projects on synoptic reporting and organisation on a national or regional level like in Norway, Sweden, France and Germany.

About my work
A mediator between neighboring organizations active in the pathology of care. Extensive knowledge in standardized structured reporting (synoptic reporting) in, pathology, national cancer screening programs, information exchange, ICT, finance and quality assurance. Wide interest in the healthcare chain in which pathology is participating.

As senior advisor and administrator I have a central role in the development and maintenance of more then 35 national pathology protocols (standardized structured reporting or synoptic reporting) within the field of pathology according to Dutch multidisciplinary guidelines, ICCR and national screening programs such as cervical, colon and breast cancer. Furthermore developed a modular national protocol for moleculair testing for NGS, WGS etc, in collaboration with clinical biologists and pathologists. Next to that integration of artificial intelligence and SNOMED CT coding, for better research and interoperability across different EHR, and for better patient understanding.
About my work

In addition, a coordinating role in the development of standardized structured reporting or synoptic reporting information transfer between various national scientific databases / institutes and EHR in hospitals and other organisations. Close collaboration with various disciplines such as surgery, pulmonary medicine, gastrointestinal medicine, dermatology, Commission Palga Protocols, and expert groups from the Dutch Pathology Society at developing, mutating and maintaining these national pathology protocols.


International involvement in SNOMED CT International for Synoptic Reporting and involvement in the Synoptic Reporting Implementation Committee (SRIC) of the ICCR.
